When one of the NBC recruiters called me about the internship offer, I was stoked. After many semesters of hard work, I did not think I would get this far in my television career. The work experience is impeccable because of my supervisors who became my mentors during my time with NBC. The opportunity to work here excelled beyond my expectations and there was certainly a lot of room for upward mobility.
In this internship, I had the pleasure to work with the research team of the NBC TV Distribution department in executing Nielsen audience data and MRI consumer profiles to media sales, branded entertainment, talent development and production executives of our syndicated daytime and primetime shows such as Access, Dateline, Steve, Jerry Springer, Maury, Law and Order series, Steve Wilkos and more. from learning various media research tools, I convert numeric data into verbal insights which can leverage as marketing strategies to help secure ad integrations with our external sales clients.
Outside my office routine as an intern, I had the opportunity to join a NBC's employee resource groups called Asian-Pacific American [APA] and collaborated on a lot of events together. See below for experience.
Growth
Above is a sample book I designed to guide succeeding NBC interns on how to use several public media research tools such as MRI and Nielsen (NPower/NNTV/Ad Intel). In order to protect the company's confidentiality, I will not reveal the entire directory I made for NBC's internal use. I made this as a long-term strategy to make training efficient and effective for prospective research interns.
Learning Curve
After interning in NBCU, I realize their company's overall momentum motivates me to constantly perform my best in the workplace. I had opportunities to help out my community during my downtime. Their Leadership Spotlights featuring guest production executives and other internal events hosted by NBCU employee resource groups inspire me everyday. They manifest a culture where anyone significantly do play a role in moving the company with their innovation, prestige and creativity. Because of this, I am determined to set a lifelong goal in excelling in the TV industry.
Community
My first APA @NBCUniversal event involved volunteering in Chinatown Manpower [CMP] for Comcast Cares Day. Along with other NBC Employers, we were in charge of mentoring 4 CMP students of ages 16-65 in professional development and career preparation.
